Innovative cataract operations carried out with femtolaser or femtoseconds laser

Cataract surgery has been through many technological innovations. The introduction of the femtoseconds laser or femtolaser revolutionised this surgical procedure. Thanks to the femtosecond laser the main phases of the operation are programmed by the surgeon on a computer and carried out by a laser in a few seconds without using scalpels and forceps. Every step is monitored in real time through the optical coherence tomography (OCT), which carries out a three-dimensional control of the structures that need to be operated on by leading the action of the laser. However, not every eye is suitable for this technique. Only the ophthalmologist can evaluate the situation through specific examinations and decide on the most suitable operation.
